The design of Jean Prouvé's Chaise Tout Bois is very similar to his famous Standard chair, which the French 'constructeur' conceived a few years before the Second World War
Due to the scarcity of metal during the war years, the Chaise Tout Bois – as the name says – was made entirely out of wood.
Vitra have brought back to production the Chaise Tout Bois in a design variant developed by Jean Prouvé in 1941, its construction does not require a single screw. The practical structural design, which typifies Prouvé's focus on the functional needs of users, acquires a familiar, inviting warmth in this all-wood edition.
Chaise Tout Bois by Vitra is available in light oak or dark-stained oak. Seat and backrest are moulded plywood veneer. Non-stackable solid wood base with a protective natural lacquer finish.
