Originally designed for the Canteen restaurant group, this lightweight plywood chair takes inspiration from the ubiquitous post-war utility chair.

Reduced to three main components, the Canteen Utility Chair maintains the look and feel of the original with an updated production method. The powder-coated frame is made from one piece of precision-bent tubular steel, with hidden fixings that join it to the plywood seat and back.

With subtle updates to the archetype, Klauser and Carpenter have created a visually light yet robust design whose versatility is enhanced by its varied range of finishes. An ideal option for contract use, the stackable Canteen Utility Chair has passed Level 2 testing for strength, durability and safety.
