Foster + Partners have designed the Mattiazzi Leva Chair, a distinct and inviting armchair inspired by the form and materiality of an oar.

Following the approach of how an oar is carved and shaped according to its functionality, the Leva Chair is constructed in a similar manner. Made of a single piece of machined timber, this Mattiazzi chair has arms that are steam-bent and gently inclined, while the backrest widens in the middle to produce an ergonomic and supportive backrest. The result is an elegant structure that offers great comfort.

With spare use of materials and design rooted in sustainability, the result is a conscious and practical design for modern living. Made of ash wood that is sustainably sourced from Eastern Europe.
