Originally produced for Jasper Morrison's personal use, the Botan Bench sat on the terrace of his office for five years before he proposed the design to Maruni.

Seeing its potential for use in public spaces, the Japanese design institution put the Botan into production in a choice of sizes and materials, creating a versatile piece that can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Stripped down to its functional essence, the horizontal planes of the bench are slightly angled to complement the body, cut at a substantial thickness which allows for regular use.
