Artists Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen walk us through some of their favourite pieces from their collaborative furniture project. Currently on view at the Viaduct showroom in Clerkenwell as part of this year's London Design Festival.

Fien Muller : That is one of my favourite pieces because for me it has a romantic idea of being together on the same piece but doing different things. You can be one is watching TV or reading a book while the other is working on the table but you are together in the same time. You have to share a lamp and a rack between you and that is what I like about that piece. And it is also the most sculptural piece for me and I think it is because we had a lot of functions so a lot of things to sculpt actually.

Hannes Van Severen : If we make furniture we want to not just make furniture but we want to involve the space also, the space where the furniture stands. So, this is a rack and it strangles, it can go out of each other. And you also can change the position of this. This is a table, a desk, and this is a fixed rack and you can move this, and you can for example make a cross, like this. And then you can sit over here but also somebody can sit over there so you have like each their private office. But you also can move it in an angle and then you create like a little room.

Fien Muller : And this piece it is very normal rack really to store, it is a very normal rack to share. And then we switched one, two, three shelves, so it becomes a writing desk. You can sit on, you can put your things here, you can write. By switching the shelves you have the possibility to sit on it to read or to write and to put different things, so it becomes more a table and a seat.
