Creative Director Karin Gustafsson said of the Cos development process in a recent Disegno interview: "It is important that you explore in a creative way. Maybe it's only the pocket [that stays] from an initial idea, but if you don't do that development process, you don't have a new pocket."
This playfulness and willingness to develop new archetypes is also part of Muller Van Severen's creative process. The work of both Cos and Muller Van Severen comes to life with use; the human form playing an essential part in the design. The results challenge the norms of their respective fields, inviting participation and gently nudging changes in behaviour. Do you walk differently if a dress is cut in a certain way, or if you are seated facing your partner does it prompt more conversation, more intimacy?
The two are a natural fit as the results of this cross pollination of ideas show.
