The Soft Edge 40 Chair by Iskos-Berlin for Hay explores the latest in moulded plywood techniques to create a lightweight yet resilient stackable chair.
Their innovative approach to construction allows the use of plywood pieces measuring just 6mm thick as opposed to the usual 10mm, vastly reducing the quantity of natural materials used in production.
As the name suggests, the edges of the seat are gently curved away from the chair, with no sharp edges or corners exposed for optimum comfort. The slender powder-coated steel legs add to the chairs sense of lightness while remaining inherently durable in materiality.
The moulded oak veneer seat is available in a range of water-based colourways or lacquer. This practical application of design and material make the Hay Soft Edge 10 an excellent, affordable option for all facets of the contract market or for use in the home.
