Perhaps Gio Ponti's most well-known design, the Superleggera Chair is defined by its visual and physical lightness.
Ponti drew inspiration from the structure of the early 1800s Chiavari chair, reinterpreting the Italian classic with strong lines and no frills. Widely regarded as an embodiment of the country's strong craft traditions, the 699 Superleggera is now an icon in its own right, and is part of the permanent collection at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
