Located in the beautiful Italian Gardens, within Kensington Gardens, which is managed by The Royal Parks’ charity, the Italian Garden café is a new casual dining project designed by interior architecture studio, Article.
The surroundings which feature a strong sense of Italian heritage, such as the central rosettes carved in Carrara marble and the Portland stone and white marble Tazza Fountain, served as inspiration for Article's direction.
Article's Creative Director Katy Manolescue shares, “We wanted to create a modern reflection of Italian design; championing the mid-century era and the works of Gio Ponti in particular, the great father of Italian design whose work transcends architecture, furniture, product and ceramics. His designs are showcased at the café so perfectly and we added to this with a selection of new furniture including an edit from VG&P and Emu.”
Viaduct assisted Article with sourcing furniture for the project, including designs from Cassina, Very Good & Proper and Emu.
Gio Ponti’s masterfully crafted Leggera chairs for Cassina and the bold decorative brass edged FA33 mirror for Gubi.
The outdoor space features Very Good & Proper's stackable Latte chairs with Darwin tables designed by Lucidi/Pevere for Italian outdoor furniture brand Emu.
