Colicci at The Pheasantry is the latest project from interior architecture studio Article, located in the historic Bushy Park; the second largest of London's eight Royal Parks, lying just north of Hampton Court Palace.
Tucked in a uniquely tranquil setting, Article shares, “Our primary focus was to bring the calming influence of the surrounding nature within the dining space; blending the colours and textures from outdoor to indoor, and taking reference from the adjacent monumental architecture of the Palace.”
Layers of wood finishes are used throughout the design, adding an intimate warmth and tactility. The existing timber panelled ceiling, for instance, features a gently curved canopy across the space. This softness is further carried through the tables, chairs and lighting which were crafted from English oak, ash and chestnut. By making reference to the earthy tones from the immediate surroundings, such as pine green and silver birch, the result is a sense of harmony when viewing the parkland from within the cafe.
This being Viaduct's third Colicci project with Article, it's been a pleasure to witness and be involved with their continued expansion and transformation. Viaduct assisted Article with sourcing furniture for the project, including designs from Hem, Heerenhuis, Very Good & Proper and Emu.
