One of Hans Wegner's few steel frame chairs, the CH88 is designed for everyday use, versatile in both appearance and usability.
It originally existed only as a prototype, exhibited at a Swedish design fair in 1955. In 2014, to mark the centenary of Wegner's birth, Carl Hansen launched the CH88 chair for general sale for the first time. Sturdy yet lightweight, the CH88 chair is easy to stack, with straight back legs and an oval wooden seat.
The interplay between industrial steel and the steam-bent hardwood back create a restrained and modern aesthetic while referencing Wegner's insightful craftsmanship. Available in a selection of natural wood finishes or a range of rich colours that pays homage to Hans Wegner's colour experimentation and stays true to his original palette.
Available online in the following finishes; Oiled Oak with a Stainless Steel Frame or Black Oak with a Black Frame.
