First designed for the University of Jyväskylä in 1953, Alvar Aalto's A331 Beehive Pendant Light has gone on to become one of Artek's best-selling lamps.
Tiered painted aluminium is punctuated by polished brass or chrome rings, where light is diffused to project a warm glow around the room. The sculptural design of the Artek Beehive Pendant Light offers a decorative appeal even when not in use.
Generally designed as part of a broader architectural scheme, Alvar Aalto's lights were designed with the effect on their environment in mind, and the A331 is no exception.
